Raylester

Raylester (/raylester / [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in the Gumada Provence of the Kingdom of Hobben.

The name Raylester is derived from the Sylvin language, as Raylester was founded by G̈il Saywell, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Raylester has a yearly average temperature of 24°C (75°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 30°C (86°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 19°C (66°F). Raylester receives an average of 274 cm/y (107 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Raylester covers an area of nearly 4 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 1224 m (4015 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Raylester was founded durring the late 14th century in spring of the year 1298, by G̈il Saywell. The establishment of Raylester was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Raylester 's construction back out of the project. G̈il Saywell pushed on reguardles, and Raylester was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Raylester was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Raylester is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Raylester is buildings are arranged arround a network of narrow cobblestone streets which form a diagonal shaped grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town sits comfortably behind a palisade wall complete with a timber gatehouse and battlments. Unfortuantly, these timber-based walls are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

A look around Raylester makes you wonder how anything ever gets done. The locals have clear, obvious rivalries with one another, as seen through clenched teeth and fake smiles. What’s more, there is a serious lack of any organization and planning in Raylester ’s layout as well as the local’s behaviors. The town seems to be a den of chaos where tongues are forked and local customs do not exist.

Raylester 's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town.
